We are thrilled to welcome María de Lera Auersperg to the K team!

María brings a unique blend of global experience, strategic insight, and operating chops that perfectly aligns with K Fund’s mission to support the most ambitious founders from Southern Europe and beyond.

She joins us to strengthen our vision of building complementary teams, bringing with her a solid background in both startup operations and venture capital investing. We’re confident she’ll once again raise the bar with her bold, thought-provoking ideas. She will initially be investing from K3, while also contributing to the development of the cross-platform initiatives we’re building as part of K Fund’s broader investment strategy.

Born in Madrid, María has spent most of her life abroad, living and working in cities like New York, San Francisco, Washington DC, London, Paris, Hong Kong, and Philadelphia, while always keeping a strong connection to Spain.

She started her career in San Francisco advising on M&A and IPO transactions for Internet and Software companies, before moving to the operating side, where she built some of Lyft’s most strategic growth initiatives from ideation to launch, including the company’s first self-driving pilots and a next-generation car rental program.

After her time at Lyft, María honed her venture capital expertise in London at leading firms such as Felix Capital, Mosaic Ventures, and Balderton Capital. Her focus: investing across stages and geographies in consumerized software, brands, and AI-driven solutions for the enterprise and creative industries.

“I never had a clear picture of what moving back to Spain might look like after nearly two decades abroad, but joining Kfund has made it unexpectedly natural and exciting. It’s rare to find a team that brings together such a thoughtful mix of backgrounds, operating experiences, and — above all — shared values. A perfectly eclectic group of genuine, brilliant individuals who’ve made me feel at home at the same time as I’m venturing back home. I feel fortunate to have learned from some of the best tech and consumer investors, as well as top-tier operators from Silicon Valley. I’m really looking forward to doing my part to support the growth of the Southern European tech ecosystem.”

Now back in Madrid with her family, María is eager to help shape the future of the Iberian tech ecosystem and we couldn’t be more excited to have her on board.

Welcome, María!
