Welcome Juanjo Mostazo! Hola Málaga!

Since the beginning of K Fund we’ve tried to put together a team of individuals with different, but complementary backgrounds. This is something that’s always front of mind when we consider adding new team members.

One area that we’ve given more importance as of late is surrounding ourselves -and our founders- with men and women who have operating experience, be it as a former founders or  former manager/C-level at fast growing technology startups. These people not only bring empathy to the founder-investor relationship, but can also help founders and our portfolio in specific areas based on their expertise. On top of that, they are also instrumental in helping us as a fund make better investment decisions and understand companies in a more profound and deep way.

For all of these reasons we’re very happy to announce Juanjo Mostazo as our new venture partner. Juanjo ticks all the boxes: he worked as an engineer in various startups earlier in his career, then went on to co-found various profitable companies -most notably BidMotion- as well as Homa, which has raised more than $168m in funding to date, and has also been a very active business angel with more than 90 investments.

If you want to know more about Juanjo, we did two interviews with him to talk about his career and his activity as a business angel.

As a venture partner with us for almost a year, Juanjo has been very involved in some of our latest investment decisions and has also been a key extension of ours in our relationship with our portfolio companies. We love to have him around and, on top of that…

Málaga!

Juanjo recently moved to Málaga from his previous home in Germany and will become more and more active in the local scene. We’ve been tracking what’s going on in Málaga for quite a while, where we have one investment in Marbella (La Gran Familia Mediterránea) and we can’t wait to have more.

In a recent Twitter discussion, Joaquín Cuenca of Freepik said that he wished more VC firms would have a presence in Málaga. We agree that it’s always useful to have boots on the ground and be rather involved in the local scenes to spot investment opportunities as early as possible. Juanjo will now be our way of being connected to the Málaga ecosystem and we as a team will also be spending more time in the city in coming months.

We’re very excited about this. Welcome Juanjo! Hola Málaga!
